By now, you may have figured out my "key" based on the title, the picture and the intro but if you haven't here it is...YOU DON'T. Not alone that is. I believe Suffikboi said it best..
"I do believe that a garden is never complete, that we never in fact will ever ‘get there’ or ‘get ahead’ from the moment you down tools having completed a job, a fantastic course of events means that plants are growing and changing, being eaten by slugs and other pests, dying, or something else unforeseen is going on that means that work is being continuously generated just to maintain what has been cultivated. There is also the fact that we are never truly satisfied, that we often will bring in new planting ideas, be captivated and compelled by different varieties of plant and even succumb to gardening fashions, all of which contribute to projects starting and fresh learning taking place over many seasons."
There is and always will be work to do and if we ever do finish it all we'll still want to do more. So getting it all done and just keeping up is impossible if you work all by yourself. So what then do we do? Where do we find workers to share our tasks? My answer would be neighbors, my landlord here in Niagara has a deal that every other week they handle the garden chores for both houses, cutting grass, weeding beds etc. Even I've offered garden swap days with friends where they spend a day in my yard and then they put me to work in their own.
Again, it has its downfalls with having to give up a day to return the favour but still it has its merits as alone one finds themselves drawn to other tasks or the all too familiar indoors for a short break every once and again but with friends you work on for quite a while barely noticing the seconds turn to minutes and then to hours. I just stress that you have a goal, a task to complete at the beginning of the day or else you'll be needing another day having wasted this one indoors, this time with a friend...
