I've always loved art and the garden offers so many chances to have fun and play around. You can mix planting combinations that create all sorts of colour combinations and whatnot and you don't need to listen to what anybody else says because ultimately...it's your garden. You do what you want!
If you want to make a rainbow shaped garden following that exact colour scheme, go for it (It's not for me...but whatever floats your boat right)! It's up to you, you do whatever you want! Now fr some gardeners their may be a limit to what you can do but slow change may help. For myself my parents ween't all too sure about letting me have full access to the yard to do whatever I want so I was allocated a corner which slowly grew and grew as time went on and I proved myself.
Now, I make my own decisions and plan everything receiving minimal input from anyone else. There's more to this creativity than just plant choices though, there are all kinds of projects and whimsical objects you can place in your garden. I will admit to their being a happy compromise as too many can begin to look a little messy but again it's your yard and you can do whatever you want with almost no limits.
Gardening also offers a unique way to express yourself by forcing you to consider factors beyond those found in interior design and decorating! Flowers fade, plants die and that's just a part of the fun. We work with living organisms...forcing some to get super creative every once in a while. That need for creativity is one that satisfies many creative urges as we are forced to go back to the drawing board time and time again to keep a garden looking great in deep shade or other tough sites. And being able to satisfy that urge...well, that's a great Reason To Garden.
I am simply a gardener who loves plants, nature, writing, photography, art and all things rustic, vintage and unique. Leave a comment or connect with me on Twitter! I'd love to hear from you!
