Disclosure PolicyOverview
This disclosure policy will explain why I blog and what I get out of it. It will also talk about forms of compensation that I may receive for reviews and mentions. This is required by law and is also important because you have a right to know whether or not I am writing because I truly do love the product or service or if I am just writing about something because I am being paid or receiving other forms of compensation. Why Do I Blog?? I blog for many reasons, the main one is it's fun. Blogging encourages me to do further research and explore topics related to gardening and horticulture. It connects me with people like you who are also enthusiastic about this wonderful lifestyle (yes, it's way more than a hobby). This is not the only reason I blog though. Someday, I'd like to be a full time gardening communicator, so essentially, I'd like to write about gardening on a blog like this or write books or even host a gardening TV show. To get there it takes experience and even with this blog, it's a long shot but it's a step in the right direction. (You can help me with my dream by signing up for my newsletters and stopping by often to see what's new) So what about money? Do I make any money from this blog? The answer, not really. I have never made any significant amount of money from any of the monetisation methods I have tried. It certainly wouldn't be enough to make a living, heck, it doesn't even pay for web hosting so I do not break even and I put much more time into this than I could ever be compensated for. However, I am occasionally given free products to review and I suppose you could add this as another reason for my blogging though I assure you it is not the main reason. What About These Free Products?? Yes, I have been sent some free tools to review and I do get to keep these tools long after I write the review but I promise to only write what I really think about these tools and always point out any shortfalls that these products have or may develop. I will not write a positive review just because I was given a free product. Do You Do Anything Else?? I am open to posting affiliate links which are links to products and services where if a purchase is made after clicking the link, I receive compensation. Again I will only link to products or services which I have tried myself and believe deserve the recommendation. I also use Third Party Services such as Google Adsense to make some money off my blog, I do this solely because these methods of monetisation can sometimes motivate me when I work for a long time on a certain post whilst knowing I may never get compensated enough for the work I put in. Knowing that someday I may earn enough to compensate my time can encourage me to put in a few extra hours of work to ensure that the information is complete and accurate. If you are concerned about information collected by these third party services and their use of cookies, refer to our privacy policy. Another form of monetisation which I am open to is a sponsored shout-out. This would mean I am paid or given some form of compensation to recommend a company, product or website. I would not link to or post such a recommendation for anything I thought was not quite up to par. Do You Always Receive Compensation?? No, I do not believe in overwhelming you with recommendations that I have been or may be compensated for. Many of the links are added because they point to sources of information which I deem helpful and reliable. I am not receiving compensation for any of these links. How Will I Know When You Are Or Aren't Receiving Compensation?? I do my best to tell you whenever I am being compensated for a link or review however I hope you'll understand when I say that I can not assure that each one is recorded nor can I go back and update posts when relationships change. You will just need to judge the product or service yourself, do more research about it and understand that if I wrote good things about it, then I really do enjoy the product or service. Conclusion So it is possible that you will come across a post or link which I have received compensation for though I hope you'll understand that I will never try to deceive you and that you can trust my opinions and recommendations. You are encouraged to do further research on products and services before you purchase or use them. If you do purchase or use a product or service and find it to be unsatisfactory or any harm or damage results from the use of purchase of this product or service, Hiemstra Gardens and all of its associates will not be responsible.
