Last year I was full of hopes and dreams of which many are unreasonable, and while I have some fairly challenging goals again this year, I know that I'll be working to make sure they come true all the while taking enough time to have fun with friends and family and just relax.
This doesn't mean I'm not excited for the New Year. The New Year brings many exciting new projects including the comparison garden as well as Garden Connect. There are a few more projects I am very excited for but I'll put them into another post so you can read them there. Today, I'd really like to focus on Garden Connect as today I announce the theme for the year! Now...drum roll please.
The theme for 2014 is...Seed To Table! This means that all of the plants for this years plan will need to be either edible or beneficial to the edible plants. It was picked because many of the members are allotmenteers and so to allow them to get the most out of their space they asked if we could grow only edible plants. I am not one to refuse a genuine request and since it was asked by a few of the members I gladly agreed. This is not to say that shade plants, xeriscape and a foliage feature garden did not come to mind, we just felt they weren't quite ideal for this year.
I believe we've made a decision that will lead to a great Garden Connect year especially since I know some of our members like to cook and they may be able to weave in recipes into their posts. It should be quite interesting. Now all I'd like to know, is what do you want to grow. Remember it has to fit the Seed to Table theme but if you aren't sure tell me anyway and I'll consider it. The video below tells a little more about the project and the theme for this year but for further reading you can read this page about Garden Connect. Again if you have plants you want to grow, tweet to me on Twitter, write to me on Facebook or contact me through this contact form. 2014 will be what we make of it so lets make it the best year yet! Through Garden Connect we can have some fun and laugh together which will make the year that much better, after all there's no better combination than family, friends, laughter and gardening!
I am simply a gardener who loves plants, nature, writing, photography, art and all things rustic, vintage and unique. Leave a comment or connect with me on Twitter! I'd love to hear from you!
